You might be wondering “What is Steampunk?”. Imagine a world where Victorian era fashion rules people’s wardrobes, cogs and pipes are seen everywhere, and zeppelins never stopped sailing the skies. Steampunk is a style and genre based on technology, fashion, architecture, and design from the XIX Century and the beginning of the XX Century with a futuristic twist. Roughly the period that goes from Queen Victoria’s coronation (1837) to the beginning of the First World War (1914).
Some famous examples of steampunk works are the videogames Arcanum and Dishonored, the movies of Hayao Miyazaki (especially Howl’s Moving Castle), the setting of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes and the not-so-good (euphemism) Mortal Engines. You might also know this style for the quite popular steampunk costumes that are popular among cosplayers.
